This summer we were lucky to meet with a number of very talented UK chefs who work and create with our produce.
A visit to Tangmere from Head Chef of Chotto Matte Restaurant, Soho Michael Paul and his team, gave a unique opportunity to understand more about each other’s expertise –it was great to see how important quality and provenance are to chefs like Michael.
In a first for us, we were proud sponsors of the Cookery Theatre at West Dean Gardens’ Chilli Fiesta event in August. We got a true understanding of the versatility of our bell peppers with mouth-watering dishes from the likes of Levi Roots (of Dragon's Den fame), Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed (2017 Masterchef winner) and Dan Doherty (Exec Chef at Duck & Waffle London). What a memorable weekend!
We’ve hosted a wide range of visits during 2017 including many returning school groups from our local area to learn about the science behind our production. We even organised a pepper growing competition with A-level biologists from St Philip Howard School in Barnham. We look forward to meeting our new cohort of students for next year’s challenge.
It was a real pleasure to host our new Chichester MP, Gillian Keegan for a tour of our hi-tech production facilities and energy plant. Recognising the importance of the horticulture sector in the area (Chichester’s second largest industry, after tourism), Gillian was interested to gain a better understanding of the business and even became the first politician to pick a Tangmere pepper.
We are VERY excited to announce Open Farm Sunday will be back on Sunday 10th June 2018 – save the date and make sure you follow us on social media for more news.
In the New Year, we will introduce a refresh of our logo design. Our original pepper icon has been reworked with the aim of creating a contemporary, fit for the future, brand identity, which reflects the growth of our business and works well across all platforms. Watch this space!
December marks the beginning of our busiest period when we put all of our efforts into the annual glasshouse cleaning and we begin to plant our crops. Huge thanks to our staff at the nursery who have been working away over the past few months making sure everything is ready for the start of the new season.
