A final year student from Harper Adams University has sought the help of Tangmere Airfield Nurseries as she undertakes her Honours Research Project (HRP) in crop protection.
Sara King, who studies BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Crop Management at Harper Adams University will be investigating how best to control aphid in food crops.
Mark Knight Technical Crops Manager for Tangmere said: “Aphid is a common pest that threatens our pepper crops. We are delighted to support Sara with the plants needed for her research and to improve knowledge of how we respond to pest problems.”
Budding agronomist Sara who will use pepper plants to analyse the application of a range of biological treatments, explained: “It’s important to find new methods which control aphid pests and I find it very interesting studying these new approaches.”
Mark said: “We are pleased to encourage the next generation in readiness for the challenges that lie ahead and to develop environmentally sustainable solutions. We wish Sara all the best with her project.”
