Situated just a few miles from our nursery in Tangmere, the annual West Dean Gardens’ Chilli Fiesta brings the spice to the South Downs and celebrates all things chilli with a fantastic family event.
You’ll find plenty of flavours to discover with amazing food and drinks lovingly crafted from passionate producers, as well as salsa-infused sounds and live Mariachi music to add the party spirit.
This year, we are proud sponsors of the Cookery Theatre where you can watch top chefs demonstrate fabulous chilli-based dishes for you to taste and recreate at home. Chef Giles Thompson from The Earl of March will be hosting each day and will be joined by a magnificent line-up including: Henry Herbert (Fabulous Baker Bros), Rosie Birkett (food writer), Levi Roots (of Dragon's Den fame), Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed (2017 Masterchef winner) and Dan Doherty (Exec Chef at Duck & Waffle London). Look out for some locally sourced, seasonal ingredients - our cool bell peppers will mix things up nicely with the hotter varieties.
There will also be Gardening talks and guided tours throughout each day. Don’t miss top growing advice from West Dean Gardens’ chilli expert, Sarah Wain as well as our very own ‘pepper guru’, Gerard Vonk, a grower of sweet ‘bell’ peppers for over 25 years (more details to follow).
